Southern African music filtered through the (then new) World Music industry's gatekeepers. The sounds I heard on the mixtape cassettes my colleagues from Zimbabwe, Botswana had brought really opened my ears to the diversity and quality of independent music. So glad it is now easier for artists like Mary to find winder audiences through publications like your own.
